Lafreri, Antonio

Lafreri, Antonio/Antoine du Pérac Lafréry (Orgelet, Burgundy, 1512 – Rome, 1577) publisher, trader. He moved to Rome around 1540. Between 1553 and 1562, he worked with Antonio Salamanca, and after the latter’s death, his son, Francesco, and made the greatest book and map publisher and trading office of Rome. After his death, his place was taken by his nephew, Claudio Duchetti. Lafreri’s name survived in his collection from 1572, titled Delle Tavole Moderne Di Geografia Delle Maggior Parte Del Mondo… (Of the Modern Maps of the Geography of Important Parts of the World)
